5.00 Ascot

Tom Dascombe's stable is in absolutely dazzling form just now. His figures for the last week are 1807111213247222511. That's seven winners and six  places from nineteen runners. Sheesh!

Today, he runs just one horse at Ascot (and another at Salisbury), where he has a fine record, especially with his three year olds. Just nine horses of that age have run, and three of them won, for a profit of eleven units.

Sometimes it pays to roll with the obvious, particularly when there are so many positives, and even more so when the yard is in extreme form, as Dascombe's is currently.

Gaul Wood is 3/1 BOG in a field of fourteen, much of which is dead wood, and I'm playing win only.

As ever, make sure you get the right price, so…
