Stat of the Day: 27th June 2012
We thumped the market yesterday, getting 10/1 about a 6/1 chance... Alas, he was too far back to ever get competitive and finished mid-div.
There's a possibility that the same will happen again today, as we attack another fiercely contested mile handicap, this time the…
He's a top man is Edwin Tuer, and long been one of my trainers to keep an eye on.
At Carlisle, he does very well indeed. He's only had eight horses older than three run here in the last five years, and four of them have won, for a tidy level stakes profit of 22 units.
Today, he saddles Fazza, a horse who loves a mile, loves soft ground, and loves big fields. Oh, and he quite likes Carlisle as well.
He's won four from thirteen at a mile; one from one on soft ground; all his five wins have come in fields of ten or more; and he's one from two at the track.
Like yesterday's selection, Fazza is a horse who is normally waited with, so there could be more 'hard luck' here. But with at least three likely front-runners in the field (Miami Gator, Staff Sergeant and Desert Romance), they should come back to him and, with a dollop of fortune, we can make the frame.
With a big helping of fortune, we might even win the Carlisle Bell!
14/1 is available early doors, BOG, so take that each way…
