Stat of the Day, 1st December 2013
Well, wasn't Saturday lunchtime fun? Our advised 14/1 price on Classic Case was almost halved to 8/1 overnight and he attracted money during the morning to drop as low as 4/1 in places.
I even commented on the site that I thought it had gone too low and it did eventually begin to rise again and opened up on track back at 8's.
Then lo and behold, the money came piling in again and the horse was eventually sent off as the 3/1 second favourite and he won reasonably comfortably by the best part of three lengths to round off a fantastic second half of November for SotD. I now hope to kick December off with a winner in the...
Gordon Elliott doesn't send a large number of runners to contest chase events at Fairyhouse, just 43 in total since 2006, but 9 of them (20.9%) of them have gone on to win and his record this year is a fantastic 5 from 12 (4.167% SR) for level stakes profits of 14.64pts (+122% ROI) and he's 2/8 for 8.92pts at Grade 1 level overall.
It has been consistently profitable to back his chasers here when there has been money down for them. Eight of the sixteen sent off at odds of 5/1 or under have been returned as winners, helping followers to almost double their money via 14.5pts (+90.6% ROI) profit.
Gordon actually has four runners here today, but the only chaser is the 11/4 shot Don Cossack.
Don Cossack proved to be very handy over hurdles with finishes of 1F23 following a decent spell in bumpers (5111) and then he made an excellent debut over the larger obstacles landing a beginners chase at Galway by some 20 lengths (2m6f on heavy ground: stamina is not an issue!)
His second (and latest!) effort over fences was a step up to Grade 2 level, where he was narrowly defeated by Morning Assembly, a previous Grade 1 winner, who only finally got his nose in front of our selection in the closing stages of the run in.
He was probably outfought and outwitted on that occasion, but is sure to have benefited from the experience and neither his stamina nor his jumping are likely to be hos downfall today, yet it is a decent looking field!
He's sure to relish dropping down in trip today and will probably go off shorter than the current 11/4 BOG on offer.
So, the first bet of the month is a 1pt win bet on Don Cossack at 11/4 BOG. The price is quite widely available, so I'll use some of Saturday's winning that are sitting in my Bet365 account, but I strongly advise you to...
