Stat of the Day

Stat of the Day, 1st August 2015

Lydia's Place was withdrawn shortly after 10.00am on Friday, leaving us with nothing report on, I'm afraid.

It does however mean that we ended July on a winning note at the end of yet another highly profitable month for Stat of the Day.

Saturdays are notoriously tricky punting days, but we're heading up to Scotland for some evening action that I expect to be profitable in the...

7.15 Hamilton :

A Class 6, 9 furlong handicap on soft ground where my fancy among the nine runners declared is Alistair Whillans' 5yr old mare, Henpecked.

This 5yr old mare has been running really well of late, finishing 2nd by less than 2 lengths two starts ago at Ayr, before winning (subsequently disqualified) here at Hamilton a fortnight ago and looks set to go well again here, dropping in both trip and class.

I really fancied her to win at Musselburgh last night and had backed her accordingly, but she was withdrawn and diverted here instead, possibly suggesting that Alistair Whillans considers this a slightly easier task now that she's dropped back down to Class 6 level here she has previously won off a mark of 56, today she's on 58, but has a 5lb jockey claim to help.

Alistair Whillans' handicappers dropped in class are 20/152 (13.2% SR) for 59.7pts (+39.3% ROI) since 2010 with those dropping to class 6 winning 13 of 80 (16.25% SR) for 67.1pts (+83.8% ROI), whilst those dropping down just one level are 16/119 (13.5% SR) for 50.9pts at an ROI of 42.8%.

Combine the two and you'll see that Alistair Whillan's handicappers dropping from Class 5 to Class 6 are 11/61 (18% SR) for 56.8pts (+93.2% ROI) since 2010 with those priced at 10/1 and shorter winning 10 of 37 (27% SR) for 40.9pts (+110.5% ROI)

I took my 7/2 BOG with Bet365, because as of 6.35pm on Friday, Betfair Sportsbook were the only other firm to have shown a price, also 7/2 BOG, but now some 5hrs later, 4/1 BOG seems to be available, so grab that if you can, otherwise... see the very latest odds from all our featured bookies for Henpecked... here for the betting on the 7.15 Hamilton

      These things happen.

People always ask me to post SotD at the earliest opportunity, so sometimes I don’t get to quote the best price.

Paddy currently allows me 41p on any market I choose, so I’ll leave them alone.

Plus you know if there is a non-runner, Paddy will screw you on the Rule 4, making you worse off than any other firm.

Hi Chris – After reading Matts very enlightening piece about P.P. and their interpretation of Rule 4 I avoid like the plague now. That’s where Geegeez is so much more than just a tipping service – you look after our best interests, if we let you.

Cheers – ohhhh, great win with Fantasy Gladiator on Thursday.

Yeah, I saw Paddy’s offer, but, although I’m not as bad as Chris, I can get up to 80p on, as long as it isn’t bigger than 4/1 I found it easy to give him a swerve. Victor is on the 4/1 too, but, again, I’m persona on gratis there, as well. Tabor might like a good bet, but he’s keen to see that his clients aren’t going to be doing that, not as far as he’s concerned, anyway.

      Hi Christy

Stat of the Day will NEVER be less than the cost of Geegeez Gold, so if you don’t use the other stuff, that’s fine: you already have a stand alone subscription service 😉
