Stat of the Day, 18th January 2013

And still SotD's 'binary January' continues, after an inspired strong-arm ride from Graham Gibbons hauled Desert Vision back to the front after looking beaten 100 yards out. Great job, and a 4/1 SP winner recommended at 6/1 (R4 brought that down to 4.6/1).

Very little to go at today, due to the snow, but over in Ireland they're confident of racing, so we'll head for the...

7.20 Dundalk

Another really competitive looking race here, and I'm siding with course consistency once more (well, it worked for us yesterday), in the shape of Akasaka, a seven times Dundalk distance runner.

In those seven runs at tonight's mile trip, our boy has recorded figures of 1329132. He's also had a few goes at a mile and three furlongs here, with 1052 as his string there.

Obviously, consistency pays its price with the 'capper, and Akasaka will race off top weight tonight, although I J Brennan takes off three pounds, meaning he's effectively racing off the same mark as when just bested by the improving Captain Joy (fourth won since).

Trap nine is not ideal, but not terrible either, for this prominent racer, and his pilot should bounce him out and have him 'close enough if good enough'. That's all we can ask for there.

Trainer Ed Lynam is in fine form too, with five of his last seven Dundalk runners making the frame, at nice odds too (including 20/1, 12/1 and 7/1), so all looks set fair for a decent run.

6/1 is the best available, with BetFred offering BOG as well, so we'll go with that, each way the chicken's route again. As ever, you can...

Hi matt any chance u know what your p/l figures would be if u had just backed all horses priced 10-1 or below as a 1pt win only instead of a 1/2 pt ew bet?I only ask because over the last 6 months i’v gone from doing some ew bets to doing everything on the nose now.I personally find this a much better option.I realise u have all types of punters on this site and ur method of ew caters for all but was wondering if u adjusted the way u bet would this site have been even more profitable? You can clearly pick winners,at nice prices too on a pretty regular basis. We all have barren spells but to have a near on 30% SR over the course of a yr without constantly giving out 6-4 2-1 type selections is impressive.A lot of tipping lines can only dream of such a SR.I can understand in certain situations u’d b a fool not to back a 33-1 shot ew in a big field when u think the horse has a great chance at the price, but whats your personal view on ew bets and win bets? ps Nice win for u yet again yesterday i c.. well done!

BET365’s 4/1+ offer has now moved onto this race. so this beast has my usual 5EW on plus the £10 free bet courtesy of desert visions win on the nose, plus another £5 loyalty bonus the gave me. so, lets hope he doess the business!

  3. Damo

GL Josh i’v split my stake between Akasaka and Dimitar as i feel the latter still has a win or 2 left in him and is tough to oppose.Won comfortably last time!

As discussed prev – My mob are backing Cool Athlete 17/2 VC in the 7:20 …. And also Circus Act in the 8:50

Thxs for the read of the 7:20 – it’s a tasty 50/1 bog
Crfc with 365 on Athlete and your selection – best to be bog as athlete will shorten …. And looks like yours is too

Good luck and hoping for a 1-2finish

    Bestoluck Matt and thanks

    5/5 !!! what a performance mate …

You saved my race as cool athlete never got into it

Superb form Matt – let’s hear it for Sotd … Well deserved after the rubbish you’ve had to deal with from the odd reader

    SO pleased for you Matt

  6. Damo

lol… oppose matt at ur peril.. thx matt won a few quid while covering my losses on DIMITAR who was never at the races today stuck behind a wall of horses. 5/5 then… wd!

Another one hits the back of the net! SoTD keeps racking up the winners!

Now to decide what to back in the 9.20 with the next free bet from Bet365, like the look of First Friday.

  8. Ian L

Well you’ve done it again Matt! I didn’t see the race and don’t know the SP but my betfair account tells me we won! Thanks!
I would like to take the opportunity to also thank Chris, Johnny 5 and Stuart for the helpful info ref B365 feature race free bets earlier in the week

  9. Johnny5

And the free bets keep coming courtesy of Matt Bisogno / SotD / Bet 365

It’s in the 9:20 DUNDALK only IF you took a price 4/1 or over on Matts winner (7/2SP) Akasaka

Max stake back is £50 win OR £25ew

Any ideas Matt as looks like a terrible race to call?

  10. Johnny5

On a read of the market it seems the first three in the 9:20 only ones attracting support (essential in Eire races in my view)

Tom has first Friday , the fav is wellpunted but
Ive Backed NOVERRE PRINCESS . 7/1 VC , 4/1 Ladbrokes who must be short for a reason . 365 5/1 so another freebie if that wins

    Good luck all !

  11. Tom

Good luck Johnny! Like you say looks a tough race. If mine doesn’t come in I hope yours does!

Important thing with Bet365 is not to get their feature 4-1+ offer with their C4 4-1+ offer, ie if you get a winner in this one and qualify for a free bet you will have to wait until Sunday and if you back a the winner at 4-1+ in the last C4 race you have to wait until the next week’s racing.

  12. Johnny5

Cheers Tom – didn’t realise there wasn’t a feature race daily … Unless u mean wait till Sunday as unlikely no racing Tommo ! Good luck mate with yours mate , and Thxs for the great ‘community building’ on matts site which is a great feature I believe !

  13. Tom

There are 2 feature races every day apart from Sat where every Ch4 televised race has the offer. However the free bet you get from a daily feature mustn’t be confused with one you get from a televised winner! Confused? I was when I didn’t get my loser refunded a couple of months ago! Hope this makes sense!

Unlucky with yours, looking forward to SoTD tomorrow! Hopefully there will be some racing!!!
