Well, that was a proper clunker yesterday, with Stormin Exit starting out in rear, and staying there, despite being sent off the 5/1 joint second favourite. There seems to be something amiss with that one at present, and he looks worth swerving until showing more of his old zest.

We'll head to the beach today, and the...

3.50 Southwell

It's a horse for the course today, and what a one he is too. The Lock Master loves it here. In fact, in fourteen spins around this track, he's been placed thirteen times. That's a superbly consistent record. Now, he does find it more difficult to win, as just two wins attest, but he looks sure to go close.

Indeed, the one unplaced effort was over a mile and six furlongs when he patently didn't stay. His wins at the Nottinghamshire track have been over today's one mile distance, over which he's got form figures of 3122221.

Shirley Teasdale takes the ride for the first time, but that's not too much of a worry as The Lock Master seems fairly straightforward, having won for four different riders.

Trainer Michael Appleby is in excellent form and notched a treble on his last visit to Southwell on Sunday.

The Lock Master should be close to the pace here, and that's important as very few come from far back, and at 8/1 with Stan James (BOG), he looks a knocking each way wager.

That should keep the doubters quiet for five minutes. I not only got 9/1 but thought it looked like such a good shot that I put 1.25 units E/W on it rather than the normal 1.00 E/W.

    Thanks – great call!

back to winning ways…was only a matter of time lets be honest!
i always wish i had put more on the ones that win!! haha, kept to my usual bet, but am not complaining.
the place was nailed on from a long way out.

Familiar with this one by reputation and picked it up last night after reading the trainers stats around Michael Appleby (double today although the other was sent off 10/11). I took 11/2 E/W BOG as a bet to nothing on the off chance it should place and could win, then doubled up after seeing SotD. Absolutely delighted with the drift to 9/1 and a great win. A welcome boost to the betting bank which was getting a little depleted!
Without being too sycophantic this is a great site and there is so much useful info. The SotD write-up is always informative and entertaining plus it gives so much insight. It’s good to see the tipped horses winning on a later run e.g. Flying Pickets nearly got there at the weekend and won yesterday.
